SUMMARY
Dr. Daviel Gómez is an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, UPV-CSIC, Spain), awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2024. He graduated as a Chemical Engineer from the University “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas, Cuba (2016), and earned his PhD (Cum Laude) in Chemical Engineering at the University of Concepción, Chile (2023). His doctoral dissertation received the Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis (2022–2025) of the Division of Catalysis and Adsorption of Chile (Chilean Chemical Society). His doctoral research focused on Cu-based catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, combining operando spectroscopy, quasi in-situ XPS, and kinetic/isotopic studies. He carried out research stays at INTEC-CONICET (Argentina) and ITQ (Spain), specializing in advanced catalyst characterization. His main research areas are heterogeneous catalysis, in situ/operando spectroscopy, and kinetic modeling for sustainable chemical processes. He has authored 55 peer-reviewed articles (11 as first author), including recent publications in Nature Communication, Journal of the American Chemical Society and ACS Catalysis. He has participated in 15 projects, reviewed for 11 high-impact journals, guest editor at Nanomaterials and Catalysts, and presented at 17 international conferences (h index: 15). Dr. Gómez has supervised undergraduate and master theses, is a member of Spanish Catalysis Society (SECAT) and the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), and has built strong collaborations across Latin America and Europe.
